Apple’s Next Generation iPhone – What to Expect

10 Sep

It’s always been said, there’s something about the story that you hear as it had to start somewhere.  If that old adage is true, Apple’s next iPhone will provide faster fourth generation wireless networking as reports and rumors would have it. Reports sought from people close to the matter and offered through the Wall Street Journal, revealed that the new unit will operate with some but not all of the 4G LTE networks in the US and abroad when it is rolled out for purchase later this month.

Currently, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint all have 4G LTE networks with significantly faster data speeds than 3G networks while using varied frequencies.  Although it was not, 4G LTE technology was actually expected to be in the 2011 release of iPhone 4S but it only boasted slightly faster technology and was a great deal different from what is possible with the 4G LTE spec sheet which may be at least 10 times faster. After the release of the 4S, Apple bought the technology to the third generation iPad. The rumor mill has continually reported the claim that Apple would add the 4G technology which is now the norm among rival smartphones over the last two years.

Last year a rumor surfaced that testing was being done on the 4S of the 4G LTE iPhones based on some logs that were brought to light. More recently the same info surfaced in Korea that Apple intended to add support for LTE network bands. Some analysts even went as far as to say that Apple needed to add 4G LTE to the iPhone or they were going to risk falling behind with competitors even though they were far advanced in other aspects of technology. According to a comment by Apple, the 4G technology would force design to make compromises that the company did not want to make.

Experts feel that Apple will show off the next generation iPhone 5 at the September 12 press event. Once that event is over, there will plenty of details to talks about. Apple has now officially announced the September 12 press release in San Francisco, with the invitation leaving very little doubt that the news is about the new iPhone 5 or whatever it will be called. The new iPhone has set records in the amount of analyzing, rumors, or leaked information as has the next generation iPhone. New iPhone seekers must surely have already seen, heard, or talked about the new phone.

Anticipations have run high about what questions consumers may want to have answers to like what the name will be since they expected more from the release of the 4S.  Many think the New iPad would work, but expect the “5” to have something to do with it since the invitation boasted the shadowed 5 in content. The rumors and pictures thus far also indicate a taller and wider unit. The expected two-tone color and metal back will be a throwback look from the 2007 phone. It’s almost certain that the screen will be larger, at least a 4-inch unit with a possible extra row of icons. Time will tell as we should all know the answers in a few days.

“True Blood” Season Finale Now or Forever?

10 Sep

Kudos to the big star on this season of “True Blood” as Eric Northman drove a stake in Russell early in the HBO drama’s opening, revealing how good it felt to do so.

What a way to start an episode after Russell pulled off the resurrection.  Maybe this time will keep him in the grave as the show based on a series of novels that offers the mysteries associated with the coexistence of vampires and humans from a small town in the northwest part of Louisiana. The series centers around the daily escapades of Sookie Stackhouse and the telepathic state of mind in with which she bestows on those around her.

In the season 5 finale, Eric was just getting started out well as he, Sookie, Tara, Jason, and Nora penetrated the Authority center and made a gallant effort at attempting to influence Bill to come to his senses and cease his destruction against humanity.

Meanwhile it was Andy who was more than busy as he quickly became the proud daddy of four babies.  All that was necessary on his part was to promise that he would make sure that at least half of them would develop into adults. Alcide took on the position of leader right after he would drink some v-juice and vowed to have a higher quality pack that would hopefully be without shirts.

Now just how strange is it that no one ever mentioned MeeMaw’s missing granddaughter? Disguised Luna portrayed Reverend Steve in order to be able to rescue her wolf-girl. Meanwhile, Sam opted toff chancellor in the most creative way.  He would fly into her throat as a fly and the returned to a human, exploding her body into a gazillion bloody pieces. After this act, the revelation that Sam might just be the king of power on “True Blood.

Jason is influenced by his parents as he transforms himself in “Stackhouse the Vampire Slayer.”  The newest couple, Pam and Tara are becoming the strongest team as they wrap up in a strong kiss.

Back at headquarters, Bill engaged in what was to be his final competition as he spiked some blood with solver in order to get Lilith’s blessing. Salome was seemingly peaceful with being staked. Strangely enough, Bill drank blood from Lilith and also exploded into a bath of blood.  Unfortunately, Bill would resurrect in the blood image of Lilith. It was time for those around to head for the hills.

Maybe new stars next season will get the show on its feet as this season was mostly painful. This season was simply a hodge podge of characters in too many roles and sub-standard shows.

DVD vs. Blu-ray

6 Sep

The main differences between DVD and Blu-ray is the overall quality. Blu-ray offers superior resolution and audio compared to the DVD.

It’s sort of like moving from the old VHS to the DVD platform. However, without a higher end TV and audio system connected to the player, the difference may not be noticeable.

But if you have an HDTV system, the difference is appreciable. The DVD platform is limit to 720×480 (480p) while Blu-ray more than doubles that to 1,920×1,080 (1080p).

In audio, the Blu-ray Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio formats deliver studio-quality sound. This more than trebles the sound quality available with Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution.

Blu-ray also trumps DVD in added features. A pop-up menu lets you get to the menu functions as the movie plays. Picture-in-picture video commentary is available. Some Blu-ray players allow you to download new content.

The main drawback to the Blu-ray is the cost. Players typically are more than $200 and movies $25 and up. People with a memory reaching back to the early 80s recall the first video tape machines were more than $1,000 and the movies were often $100. DVD players and movies also started out high and the price dropped.

Based strictly on this historical record, Blu-ray players and movies will also drop in price.

Another historical issue is the availability of titles. In the beginning of the DVD revolution, very few movies were available that way v. tape. Now finding a video tape movie means looking at flea markets and yard sales. The Blu-ray movie selection is limited right now, but will grow as the format is increasingly accepted.

Fortunately for DVD owners, Blu-ray players will play DVDs. However, the Blu-ray functions won’t all be available.
